you don't obtain rid of it, you get via it. And it will come back for a year or two, same time each summer. I had mine 3 yrs, only 10 days each year.

Try a Yahoo web search for "poison ivy" + "natural remedies" and you will obtain at least 3,790 hits.

The only technique to obtain rid of it's to let it sprint it's course, about 10 to 14 days on average.
There are things you could do to speed things up and get respite from the itch. 1. Find a brand of soap called Fels-naptha, you may find it in the laundry detergent aisle of the bulk large grocery stores (it would be in bar form). Make a rich lather and put it on the affected areas and let it dry, this will help in drying up the blisters. as soon as it comes off, reapply. 2. You can take some benadryl, tablets or liquid, this will aid reduce but not remove the itching sensation. 3. If your husband has large areas that are affected, ask your pharmacist about an oatmeal bath, yeah oatmeal! It's not like the kind you eat! Your pharmacist will know about it. 4. What ever you do, don't let him scratch! Yes, I know the itch is insatiable, but if he pops those blisters he could spread it and be liable to infection! 5. If it continues to spread, go observe a doctor, one can go into shock from an acute case of toxin ivy! I am highly allergic to Poison Ivy and the last time I had it, I had it every where I have skin (EVERYWHERE!)! (Yes, there too!) It was a nightmare! The key is to dry out those blisters without popping them! REMEMBER NO SCRATCHING! |
