I have sciatica now as a result of being pregnant. I go to a chiropractor, and she works wonders. Also, you could speak to your doctor.

Yes I have. You need to confer your GP for pain killers/ muscle relaxants. With a combination of these plus rest and gentle excercise the pain will ultimately recede.

    Good luck

ah, agony....so sorry to hear. Go to GP for sturdier meds. Also, could try very warm bath and (if poss) very care and gentle streaching forward on the bed (to release trapped tissue).....only do this if you feel confident in knowing your limitations. Otherwise, does your work offer a plan to pay for a chiropractor....lots do, you will be surprised. Stay warm and take care of your self...

My gran gets it badly quite often, and she lies on a difficult surface (usually the floor) and she says it eases it.

Afraid so, The pain from the lower lumbar which fills like a piece of thread dangling down to the leg which seems that it could snap at anytime. Initially rest : pain killers and gently stretch. When it has gone try to continue stretching, particularly the Hamstrings. It will go eventually.

This seems to be hereditary, my wife's dad and sister has it and my wife started with it a couple of years ago. it comes and goes, it last s about 5 weeks, during this time she has to take tablets from the doctor such dehydracodiene but they are other treatments available, rubbing the deep freeze gel on the effected part ( buttocks, legs) can help. also a hot water bottle at the base of the spine can ease it, it tends to ease up but never goes completely. She like me to rub baby oil on the muscles effected, it drives my wild but as it helps her I am not bothered. do not just rest all the time you need a mixture of short times of exercise and rest.

I am recovering from a bad bout of sciatica . Mine was brought on by a slipped disc, an old injury that has flared up again. the pain was excrutiating, so bad I couldn't sit or drive for weeks. Depends what is causing it, if you're young it may be a disc, so observe your doc, the recovery really is just rest, gentle exercise and anti inflammatory painkillers. Chiropractitioner or alternative treatment may be able to help. Good luck.

If you have a Lloyds chemist near you they are selling TENS machines at the moment on Special Offer at £14.99 and we bought one a couple of days ago. They are recommended for sciatica as well as other conditions. Tc is going via sciatica at the mo and it's driving him mad! We both have rheumatoid and osteo arthritis and are in pain the bulk of the time anyway despite strong painkillers but sciatica pain is worse than the arthritic pain! Hope you find a solution that works for you but give the TENS machine a go.
