my blood pressure seems somewhat reasonable during the day - but at night I think it goes quite high. I didn't measure it because I was scared to because I knew it was high. the last time I had that problem it was 162/147 AFTER I took my enalapril and waited 30 minutes. Obviously I have to call the doctors again, but I"m not certainly what to tell them. the problem is during my sleep - I do better after I wake up and obtain going, but it's downright scary though and I need to know what to do and what to tell my doctor, I have no idea what to say to them. I'm not medical. I've been doing everything I know to do to obtain my bp down, and I've been telling my doctors for weeks about it. I have cut out the sodium almost completely - I've been on hydrocortisone for adrenal deficiency but my adrenals have started to wake up - and I've been tapering down off the medication slowly - as prescribed. I'm not what is the problem and which doctor to call. thanks

I'm not certainly I comprehend you fully. You said you don't know what to say to the doctor and then you later on said that you've been telling the doctor about it for weeks. What have you been telling the doctor for weeks? Have you been telling him that your blood pressure measured 162/147 at night? If not, then that is what you need to tell him and tell him it scares you. And you should perhaps tell the doctor who prescribes your high blood pressure medication.

This article will aid you a lot:
Introduction: Other than obesity, hypertension remains the single the bulk common incessant medical condition among adults in the U.S. The morbidity and costs related with this condition are profound. Many causes and exacerbating reasons have been related with vital hypertension, the bulk recently including sleep apnea and other forms of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB). While this relationship is common, the multiple average co-existent variables such as obesity have made the link hard to establish. As a result, this topic remains highly controversial among professionals in both the fields of hypertension and sleep medicine. Recent studies have added greatly to our understanding of the apparent link between these two disease states and have even suggested the clear cut mechanisms of hypertension in apneic patients. SDB is measured as the Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI), the number of episodes of interrupted breathing that eventuate during sleep. Hypertension Among Patients With Sleep-Disordered Breathing (SDB): Is there an independent link? Large population studies performed both in the US and Europe have confirmed the presence of symptomatic sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) in at least 2-4% of the normal adult population depending on sex and age. If asymptomatic individuals are incorporated in these surveys, the prevalence of SDB enhances to between 9 and 24% of all adults. If the population in question is further narrowed to those patients with hypertension, the occurence of SDB is even higher, with estimates ranging from 12 to 83%. For example, in a recent analysis of a minute group of both normotensive and hypertensive patients in Australia, 38% of both treated and untreated hypertensive patients had SDB, compared with 4% of the normotensive patients. This was independent of sex, age, obesity or alcohol use. Conversely, surveys of SDB patients have found a high prevalence of hypertension (40-60%), usually with poor control related with more severe apnea. This large range of findings reflects the variable populations studied as well as the criteria used to define SDB and hypertension. Also, the impact of prior antihypertensive medication has not been well examined in these studies. Such outcomes and criticisms of prior survey methodology have been the impetus for large, prospective population studies such as the Sleep Heart Health Study and the Wisconsin Sleep Cohort Study. Findings from both of these groups of investigators published in the last two years have greatly strengthened the link between SDB and hypertension, even when accounting for all the likely confounding variables. With hypertension affecting nearly one third of the US population, the overlap between these two chronic traumas is likely to be substantial, especially given the risk reasons that predispose to both. kindly contact a wonderful cardiologist. |
