I wore my white gold Tiffany engagement ring for a year with no problems. Several weeks ago I got married and changed it to my wedding band, which is also white gold. Soon I observed redness, swelling and peeling skin where the ring came into contact with my skin. I took the ring off, let the skin heal and changed back to my Tiffany ring. Then my finger swole and skin started peeling again!

Why is that? Did I develop allergy to gold? I cosidered that was impossible, since gold is never suppossed to cause allergies? Or is it?

yes, you could actually be allergic to gold (stinks don't it!)

I have alot of friends who have to wear sterling silver due to their allergies.

what you described sounds like it

Yes, you could be allergic to gold, I am. 14 Carat bothers my fingers, but 10 carat does not. Go figure. The best thing to do is to coat the inside of your ring with clear fingernail polish. Use a wonderful brand that will not turn yellow, and do it every so often.. Check with your jewler and observe if they have a coating they can apply. Good Luck.
