I haven't cut for two years now.

It is true that it gets easier because you learn other coping mechanisms, so self harm has less of a hold on you.

Don't worry if you mess up, you will notice that the time between cuts gets further apart each time. Eventually you just won't need to do it any more.

Three weeks is great, you're doing very well!

Keep up the wonderful work, I wish you the best of luck!

Good for you! This can be a difficult thing to overcome, but the longer you go without the better off you will be. Good luck to you! Hugs!!

she's right...the longer you go w/out it the better it gets...

you will have random periods where you will think irrationally and harm yourself but as long as you feel that guilt subsequently you know you're on the right path to recovery...eventually there would be a point where it will cross your mind and you will reach a point where you decide to let yourself cry, talk/write about your feelings, or partake in a healthy activity and you will feel so wonderful about yourself, knowing you chose the healthy and rational choice...

you are on the path to a happier life...i wish you the best of luck. stay strong!

i'm still cutting but i was trying to stop a little while back - not cutting for 3 weeks is brilliant! i know how difficult it can be when you're thinking about it everyday, but you've managed and you're doing really well! keep up the wonderful work! and don't forget to reward yourself, say, every week you manage, so that you obtain a bit more encouragement and you obtain that 'feel good' factor.

    keep going!

oh and happy b'day for in 2 months!

It sounds like you're doing wonderful so far. You should be proud of yourself for trying to stop. I used to almost every day and now I don't do it every day but have my slip-ups. Surround yourself with people who are supporting your decision to stop. What I do is stop myself at the very first cosidered of "I want to cut." I take a deep breath and tell myself "NO." Then I talk to a very close friend of mine.

I think you're on the road to a wonderful future without cutting. It is hard to stop. It is not something done overnight. I have been free of cutting for over 5 years. But, I have transferred the cutting into other things just to overcome it. Good luck.

    Three weeks is really good.

I tried to stop cutting back during the spring, and I've cut perhaps once every three weeks or so.

Recently though, I've just told myself that I'm going to stop for sure. And I'm just not doing it anymore.

If you tell yourself that you're going to stop, make yourself believe. The worst thing you could do is be unsure of yourself.

If you tell yourself that you could stop, then you can. It's all psychological.

Well, wonderful luck. I hope that it works out for both of us. I'm certainly it will. Just keep certainly of yourself!
