I used to take Dristan for my drippy nose due to hay fever, etc.
I can't find it anymore since they started to put drugs behind the counter or replacement medicine with the effectiveness of candy for real medicine. |

hehe, I perfectly feel your pain! In some states they have put Dristan with the Nyquil and such to control the output to Meth makers. So I would ask your pharmacy. I know they still make it because I have some at my pharmacy.

Most Dristan Pulled from the Shelves--
Drisan now only makes one type of nasal spray : Dristan Nasal Spray - 0.5 oz. Fast Acting Formula which is a nasal decongestant . It comes in a bright yellow box. Dristan no longer makes any of the other nasal sprays. Wythe, the manufacturer of Dristan, got hit difficult when there were accusations that one of the ingredients in the nasal spray was thimerosal, contained mercury. This was about 7 years ago. Wythe had to formulate a new Dristan and the outcomes were a stinging or burning feeling when using the spray. Many store simply halted carrying Dristan including Target and Walmart. Also, they have discontinued all of the other formulas that contained the stimulant, pseudoephedrine and only manufacturer this one. Since 2004, phenylephrine has been increasingly marketed as a replacement for pseudoephedrine; some manufacturers have changed the active ingredients of items to avoid the restrictions on sales. These are the sorts of medications that you can only purchase with identification and they were often kept behind the counter. Pseudoephedrine was linked to the manufacturing of the illegal manufacturing of methampetamine(speed) If you can't find the 1 nasal spray in the drug store, you absolutely can over the internet. www.planetrx.com sells it for less then $6.00. The only other product that is Dristan is the --Multi-Symptom Formula - Original Formula, Coated Tablets, 20 tab. Hope I answered your question |

Dristan had pseudophedrine, chlorpheniramine, and acetaminophen. Pseudophedrine is in Sudafed, but it might only be obtainable by going to the pharmacy window. Chlorpheniramine is what's in Chlor-trimeton. Acetaminophen is tylenol. If you can't find Dristan, make your own combiniation of drugs.
