I have been taking my blood pressure lately since I had an incident of high stress that made my blod pressure go to about 160/100. I was on toprol for about 3 months and now I'm fine (or so I think ). Anyway, I had never done this and I've notice that when I take it after running 2.5 miles it's high (146/90 sometimes higher). Is that common or is it my blood pressure tester that works with my pulse? It is one of those you put on the wrist. I know that in the mornings it's about 106/75 and during the day it's about 120/80. I have seen it also go up a little after a cup of coffe; but my doctor had told me about that. But nothing about running.

Yes after exercising running doing any activities dancing jumping raise your pulse because you're needing more blood to your muscles so your heart has to pump more blood and that is that pulse when your ventricle promotes the blood to the artery well hope this helps but dont raise your pulse too high because that is dangerous

Yes, as your heartrate accelerates it's normal for blood pressure to increase.

i would think it's supose to raise when you're exercising.

however ask your doctor to make sure

I believe it's normal to have a certain amount of BP elevation during and after exercise. Some recent research points to troubles for people whose BP becomes extremely high during exercise, but your numbers don't sound that bad.

I advocate taking your BP periodically and focusing on some of the reasons that can control BP. High sodium or low potassium/magnesium can lead to hypertension, and I'm wondering if during your exercise you disturbed that balance somehow?

All just thoughts... I'm not a doctor!
