    No, they are volunteers. Other than food service or the store, you would need some type of training. Even nurses aides have a course to complete (they check vitals, obtain water for patients etc) Maybe transport(they come to take patients to dissimilar departments in the hospital) I don't observe any need for training there. Look online at a local hospital, the bulk of them have job listings.

    VOLUNTEER. That's a wonderful ticket to BIG college scholarship winnings, kiddo. What else is there to separate you from everyone else with amazing test scores and ideal GPA's?

    The hospital where I work the Candy Striper does not obtain paid. To work at our hospitals you have to be 18. Have you tried a Doctors office, some of them will pay while you work for them if they know you're interesting in the medical field.

    This site will explain the history of candy stripers, past and present. Typically, candy stripers were purely volunteers; but this varies now with the individual hospital's policy. My older sister was a candy stripers in the early 60's.
