I had to have a hysterectomy due to severe Endometriosis and PCOS age 23. Now 2 years on I am back to where I started, I'm in constant pain, still obtain terrible dragging period type pain as well. I have started to put on all the weight I lost post hysterectomy and have got the acne back as well as debilitating tiredness. I am on Evorel Conti HRT patches. Am now waiting for a laproscopy again to observe whats going on.
Has anybody else had these probs post hysterectomy? If so what was the problem and treatment? * I had a total hysterectomy with elimination of both ovaries and cervix etc* |

I have had friends who had a hysterectomy and their troubles got worse.
Hysterectomy can't cure Endometriosis or PCOS. For the endo the best thing is elimination of as much of the disease as is possible by a doctor that is very experienced with endo. |

Some few yrs back, I had a total Hysterectomy with a left oophoretomy ( ovary removal) due to endometriosis. Although the biopsy of the uterine tissues didn't uncover endometriosis. Anyway, because of the persistent pain which causes me to double up in pain; upon my bladder surgery, the gyne surgeon removed the infected fallopian tubes and also the cyst forming right ovary.
To date, I'm still saddled with so much pain although with less intensity. Eventually, my doctor diagnosed me with IBS- Irritable Bowel Syndrome. i discover that I have to be very careful what I eat to avoid either constipation or diarrhea. and the cramps. Recently, I read some article (which I agree)- that my pains are perhaps caused by adhesions or scarring from previous abdominal surgeries. and the more surgery, you obtain the more likely, you develop more adhesions. Thus it becomes a viscious circle.. Your weight gain and acne condition might be due to stress. I struggle with weight gain eversince my hysterectomy. So i have to watch what I eat. Another cause of weight gain and weariness might be due to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Hypothyroidism and Menopause. . I also have hypothyroidism and am on thyroid meds. It's wonderful that you're on hormone replace therapy. I take Estroven, a natural supplement of estrogen. which seems to relieve my menopause ( hot and cold flashes) symptoms ; gives me more energy. |

I'm sorry your having to go via this! Like the fist poster mentioned, there is no cure for endo, not even a complete histerectomy. The closest thing to a cure is to have an endo expert excise every bit of endo. It sounds to be like the endo has grown back. If there is any little bit of endo it can grow back, that's all it needs. Estrogen is what fuels the endo and endo has the capability to produce it's own amount, it does not need your reproductive organs to do it. Unfortunately there are a lot dr.'s out there telling their patients that a hyst is the miracle, end all cure. Google Dr David Redwine-he is one of the best endo dr.'s and he has lots of info on his website. I don't know what financial situation you're in but he is the kind of dr. you want to observe to give you the best chances at long lasting relief. Whatever dr. you do see, do not let them tell you it's unachievable for you to have endo, b/c that's bull. Research it and you give them the info yourself if need be. I wish you luck. I've had endo 13 years and so do comprehend the pain.
