YOu could have gotten a long time ago and just now express symptoms. Hell you can have gotten it from him Millions of people have it and dont know it. I have it and have had surgery twice it's something you need to keep on top of but it's not the end of the world.

Oh I observe + HPV all the time at my job. Yes HPV is sexually transmitted. The only thing is it can lay dormant in your body. You could have had HPV from your very first unprotected sexual encounter and it just didn't express up on a pap test until now. For a lot women HPV can cause abnormal pap smears and for others it could cause genital warts. There are a lot strands of HPV and there is no test to tell which one causes which. Also with HPV if your doctor plans on repeating your pap smear in 3 months or so, your pap could be normal. He or she will just want to follow up with you by doing repeat pap smears every 3-6 months. That's how the physicians would do at my office. HPV doesn't really have symptoms either. So the guy you perhaps got it from had no symptoms at all so there was no way you can tell he had it. It is actually very average for women ages18-26. So if you have any questions just ask your doctor. They should be able to answer them. Hopefully this helps a little! :o)

Andrea gave you a very wonderful answer. The only thing I can contribute is that you have to be certainly to obtain PAP test periodically because some strains do give you cervical or other cancers and if you don't know about it it could kill you or cause you to have a hysterectomy. Be careful with this one!

Millions of people, are you kidding me? They say that 75% of people who have sex will obtain HPV at some time or another in their life. If you're not a virgin you could've gotten it from any one of your past hookups, not to mention your boyfriend you have right now. Because he might have had it before he even got with you. Of course, he might also have cheated. But either way, all of those are possibilities and there's no technique of knowing when you actually contracted HPV, so don't beat yourself up about it. Just take the proper precautions now I guess. There's really nothing you could do now, those are the chances you take when you select to have sex. Condom or not, you could catch HPV like you could catch herpes, from skin to skin contact, not even fluids and penetration so...be a little more careful and a little more knowledgable if you still scheme on having sex. It's your life you're playing with.

80% of Americans have it. It has spread like wildfire. There are several strains of HPV and not all will necessarily cause you to be at risk of cancer or obtain warts.

I have HPV- low grade...my pap also came back abnormal. I have no idea when I got this STD or how long I have had it. My largest mistake is I didnt itinerary pap exams to catch this std earlier...if that is the case.
Taken from "Centers for Disease Control and Prevention": HPV is passed on via genital contact, the bulk often during vaginal and anal sex. Most people never even know they have HPV or that they are passing it to their partner. For this reason, it may not be possible to know who gave you HPV or when you got it. HPV is so average that the bulk people obtain it soon after they beginning having sex. In cases when HPV does not go away on its own, it may only be found years later. Taken from the "FDA" Website: There are a lot kinds of HPV and not all of them cause health problems. Some kinds of HPV may cause troubles like genital warts or cervical cancer. HPV types 16 and 18 cause about 70% of cervical cancers. HPV types 6 and 11 cause about 90% of genital warts. Usually low risk HPV clears up within 2-3 months (what my doctor said) in the bulk women it can take up to 2-3 years depending on the grade and the type of HPV if you have. But the wonderful part is the bulk of the time it clears up on its on, there isnt a cure..and its not life threatening..however it has been know to lead to cervical cancer. Taken from "Q&A-HPV Types" How a lot different types of HPV's is there? Answer: There are LOTS, over 30. The ones that cause cervical cancer are HPV 16 and 18. You would be fine! No worries! |
