I am 22 weeks pregnant and the last 3 days when I wake up and I am lying in bed I obtain this bad tingling in my right hand like it's asleep. I obtain it once in a while throughout the daytime too but it's not as bad. It's very bothersome especially if I try to fall back to sleep. Has this ever happened to you and do you know what it may be?
Thanks |

You might have a pinched nerve. I have had similar occurances. However, if it continues I would observe the doctor.

It's the almighty nerve that passes over the bone in your wrist that is causing this sensation. It obtain it too

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a painful problem that 28 percent of pregnant women have to endure. Carpal tunnel syndrome springs up when the median nerve, traveling via the "tunnel" of the wrist bones, is compressed by the flexor tendons which also run via the carpal tunnel. The nerve responds to this compression by sending back pain signals, and by not carrying common information, which provides sensation to the hand.
The following is a list of signs and symptoms about which pregnant women need to be cognizant: * Tingling or numbness in part of the hand (thumb, index, middle or ring fingers); * Sharp pains that shoot from the wrist up the arm; * Burning sensations in the fingers; * Morning stiffness or cramping of hands; * Thumb weakness; * Frequently dropping objects; * Waking at night with hand pain and numbness; * Numbness in hand while driving. Other conditions which cause these symptoms include arthritis or disc disease in the vertebrae of the neck, normal problems with peripheral nerves and a compression syndrome of the median nerve closer to the spinal cord than the wrist. The definitive diagnostic regimen is a study of the nerve as it goes via the wrist, called a nerve conduction study (NCS). This study will detect over 90 percent of persons with carpal tunnel. Pregnant women who develop CTS are not likely to develop this condition again – unless, of course, there is another pregnancy – because the problem usually clears up after delivery. |

it happened continuously when i was preggers. It's normal! Try to find a position where your hand is comfortable for a while. Sorry I have no solutions. Maybe someone else will. Just wanted to let you know it happens.
I do bear in mind asking my dr and he said it's because of the increased amount of blood and it kinda gets stuck in the appendages. Movement aid to move it around. |

Yes, I had that in pregnancy also. The baby is putting pressure on a nerve causing the numbness. My numbness last almost 2 months after I delivered my baby.

tingling in your hand could be a sign of pre eclampsiea which is hypertension induced by pregnancy. If you're having headachs or visual troubles then observe your doctor.

You were perhaps lying on your hand, cutting off the circulation. Hang your arm staight down for a few minutes and observe if that helps.
If not... is it cold when you obtain this tingling? I have a condition in which whenever my hands/feet obtain cold, they tingle so bad. That usually happens to me at nighttime, because my hands aren't under the covers. If that's the case with you, just sprint your hand under warm water (not hot) for a few minutes, or take a shower. |
