I've been on Accutane before. I was on it for about 6 months. The technique that the medication works is that it's really just a super high does of vitamin A. At very high doses, vitamin A turns off all of your oil producing glands. Acne is caused by bacteria that grow within the oil glands when they obtain clogged (normally by skin cells or dirt). The symptoms of accutane include very dry skin, eyes, nasal passages, and lips. I had to continuously carry around chap stick since my lips were crazy dry. Also your skin may also be very dry and itchy and you will end up applying lotion various times per day. The only other main symptom that I had was it did sprint me to the bathroom a bit for the first week or so.

    I hope this helps.
