My mum (or mom) went into hospital a a week ago to obtain surgery to eradicate something from outside of her head, she went to the doctors to obtain the stitches out, then was told to call back yesterday (friday 15th) to check if there were stitches under the dry blood. She went and came back and my brother checked her head and it was lieing open (about 1/2 cm) and its rightly deep and you could see right down to the skull/bone. My brother was going to take her back to the hospital but she didnt want to go (fear of needles) so she didnt go, Whats the worst that can happen if she dosnt go to hospital.

You got to obtain her back to the doctor. No wound that's open wide ample to observe the skull is a wonderful thing. Do NOT try to correct this problem in your home. She requirements advanced medical care right now!

She could obtain osteomyelitis of the skull bone, i.e. infection of the bone. She must be treated immediately.
