I'm 6 feet tall, 160 lbs or so. I work out 3 periods a week and eat healthy. I don't drink anything except water. There are days when I wake up and my face appearance puffy and fat almost swollen. I look nothing like myself. This lasts for a few days then I go back to normal. Then 1 week later it will happen again. It's not allergies. I've had a blood test. I'm thinking fluid retention, maybe? Are there pills for this. Sometimes I pop a Motrin and it helps, but Motrin isn't wonderful for the stomach. Has anybody else experienced anything similar....greatly appreciate any answers...

If the swelling goes away shortly after you obtain up, there is nothing wrong - a certain amount of swelling at night is normal.

If you have fluid retention, you should also have swollen fingers and ankles at the same time your face is puffy. Fluid retention is generally caused by too much salt consumption or heart disease - Motrin won't help.

If your fingers and ankles are not swollen, then there's a likelihood you're developing Cushing's syndrome. The first symptom people usually notice with this condition is a "moon face".

although im not certainly what you may have, it's doubtful its cushing's, which is rare disorder that is affected by the hormones your body is producing. if it was cushings you will be pretty over weight with obesity that centers around your abdomen. you would have a "moon face." basically a very swollen, puffy face. you would also have a development of a fat area around your upper back and shoulders, its called a buffalo hump. i think its worth getting checked out at the doctor's office. just to make certainly your circulatory system and lymphatic system are working correctly. you may have troubles with drainage from lymph vessels that subsides during the day. if you lay flat, gravity cannot drain lymph fluid down so it may settle in your face. wonderful luck.

If it isn't anything grave (which you may want to look into) with fluid retention and bloating during my period I always use a diruetic (sp?). They aid to alleviate fluid retention. They're near the metamucil, etc. at the grocery store.

It could also be possible that you're taking in too much salt. Salt aides in water retention.

I agree with beatifulbunny0 and check the salts and sodium's you're in taking Gatorade although it's use as a hydrant, contains many of sodium and electrolyte's that you body needs.also check the foods and all if you're eating pre-packaged meals this could contribute extra sodium(and fluids). I would go observe a doctor and just ask there is nothing wrong with just being concerned and finding out. and a doctor will be able to prescribe the right meds if it's something that is non grave and treatable. I hope this helped. Good luck. =)
