I have lost a total of 120 pounds so far.

I lost 105 pounds in my first 6 months. Here is how I did it.

    1. Every morning obtain up and walk for 45 minutes. You can beginning with less time, but you want to obtain up to 45 minutes, and it must be rapid walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.

    2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).

    3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to rapid food, obtain salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you obtain into a routine, you will obtain hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

Also beginning counting your calories. Write them down. You will be amazed as to how much more aware you're of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a amazing program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. They offer a free 7 day trial, and so far I am very impressed with the product. Try the 7 days and see. It allows you to contribute the exercise that you do during the day, which enhances the amount of calories you could take in. Very Cool!!

So you've got about 12 weeks---20 lbs is absolutely doable, especially if you're not currently exercising. First step: obtain moving. Aim for 3-4 sessions a week of cardiovascular exercise (walking on a treadmill, stair climbing, elliptical trainer, or, if you're not a gym member, brisk walking outdoors or exercise DVDS) start with 20 minutes and working up to 30 in the next 4 weeks. I'd advocate warming up for 4 minutes at a low intensity (e.g. walking at a common pace), then alternate between a moderate pace (60 seconds) and a slightly higher intensity pace (30 seconds) for the duration of your workout. The trick is not to enable your body to adapt to the exercise too quickly, so by varying the pace/intensity of your exercise over that 20-30 minutes, you'll maximize your results. And don't forget to cool down for 4-5 minutes at the end of your workout to bring your heart rate back down. Pay recognition to your how your body feels; fat-burning exercise should feel like a 6 or 7 on a scale of 1 to 10 of how difficult it's for YOU.

As soon as you can, you should also try to strength train for 20 minutes 3 periods a week, ideally right after your cardio workout. Your best bet will be to join a gym and take advantage of their orientation session with a trainer (most clubs offer this complimentary) to learn how to lift properly and to find out what exercises will give you the best results. If you don't have access to a gym, pick up some lightweight dumbbells or tubing at your local sporting goods store, and a video to go with if they have any (they should). Focus on full body movements that obtain your heart rate up, like squats, kneeling push ups, lunges, etc.

Finally, try to eat as healthfully as possible. The Internet is a amazing resource---you can find recipes, join a diet program or community, learn about calories in and calories out. Healthyeating.net is a site I like.

Good luck, and congratulations on your wedding!
