Some people would say use ChapStick, but I only use that when my lips are dry. What I want to know is how do I prevent my lips from getting dry in the first place.

Moisturize them at night, every night.. (can be annoying, but anyway), wear bees wax and sunscreen in the day.
Drink LOTS of water. You're perhaps not drinking ample water.. the bulk people don't realize. |

you have to use it every day before you go outside, use one with sunblock protection. also, petroleum jelly works wonderful thats what some of the celebrities use. but i would stick with the others since it doesn't have sun protection.

I also have dry lips. The thing that I find to be very useful is putting vaseline on your lips before you go to bed at night, your lips will feel soft and moist all day.

Dry lips are often caused by poor dietary intake. You may be licking your lips and not even realize it and that will dry them out, too. They make some wonderful lip sticks with no color in them that actually aid to heal dry lips...one of them is called Soft Lips or Lips So Soft. They have glycerine in them that helps to heal the dry skin. Whatever you select don't pick at the dry skin or bite your lips. It will make them many worse.

First of all, drink a good deal of water. Second, apply petroleum jelly every night before bed. Also, take an old toothbrush and brush your lips with the petroleum jelly. It buffs off dead skin cells and keeps them soft and subtle. It sounds gross, but it really works!

I got grave dry lips one time in high school. I put vaseline on every night and they were never so soft...
Also, medicated Blistex is AMAZING. And it tingles. =) |

use protectant, especially in cold weather, wind, heat, and sun exposure. using burts bees or regular chapsitck brand (i like mint flavored) are wonderful bets. try to avoid biting or licking your lips. licking is especially detrimental in the cold winter months. when i was younger i figured when my lips were dry, i could lick them and they would feel better (this was in winter) they kept getting worse until they ultimately cracked and bled! it was horrible!
