My husband gets horrible pain in his legs, kind of like shin splints. He describes them as feeling like growing pains.
They are in his lower legs... and are all over, not only on his shins. He will have horrible pains at night and have me rub them, also, a warm bath will sometimes help. It makes it hard for him to fall asleep, although we are certainly that it isn't RLS(restless leg syndrome). He hasn't always experienced these symptoms. They will come and go... like recently he hasn't experienced it for 4weeks until last night. He is 20, so I don't think it could be growing pains. We currently don't have health insurance or the wealth to go to the doctor, so any answers will help. Thanks so much in advance! |

This happens to me too!!!!! But I think it's RLS.....Does it bother him so much that he has to kick his legs!!!! It only happens to me at night when i go to sleep!!! I have to obtain up, and stretch, and then it goes away after about 3 or 4 hours....it dosen't happen every night either.....I take Requip which makes me go to sleep without feeling a thing.....But like I said I have RLS.....The worst feeling in the world, thank you

That should be checked out! That could be serious! I know that is not what you want to hear but it's true! They have free clinics or even maybe he may qualify for medicaid! That could be a blood clot or something serious. It sounds like that pain has been pretty persistant and it could be dangerous! Please, look to try to find his some help! A.S.A.P.

I think I know exactly what is wrong with his legs. This happens to me almost every night and I Night shift can be totally fine for the body and mind. It is not prizeful for you if you couldnot adjust to it, and still have the urge to sleep at night. hate it!
*Does he obtain the pain mostly in his calves, but never higher than his knees? *Does this leg pain come on suddenly? For example, does it wake him up at night? *Occassionally does his leg hurt so much that he can't move it? *Does it feel like he has to massage the leg or 'walk it out' to obtain rid of the pain? *Occassionally, once the pain has been massaged out, does it feel like it's 'still there' or going to 'come back'? *The pain is only ever in one leg not both? *Does it feel like the muscle is tensing up/contracting, and not relaxed and 'normal'? I know these are really clear cut questions, but I think your husband gets muscle cramps. I obtain muscle cramps about 4-5 periods per week. I always always obtain them during the night. They are so painful that it wakes me up straight away and I immedately beginning kicking out my leg because I know that if I don't do something about it the pain will obtain worse. It has happened that occassionaly the cramp comes back as soon as I rest and go back to sleep. My dad gets them too. I have been told that it's due to, quote "mineral and electrolyte imbalances". I usually find that mine happen after of lots of physical exercise, when I have had heaps of water but not ample sodium etc etc I don't know if everyone is different. There is heaps of information on the internet if you google "muscle cramps". I have never been to the doctor about this because I know from my dad that it's common and can be solved via 'tweaking' your diet. Good luck! |
