I'm 45 and mine got worse a year ago (heavier).

It was found last July I have started Peri-menopause.

    Your hormones are changing.

Have you experienced any other unusual symptoms in addition to the heavier bleeding like insomnia and mood changes?

Ask your Gyn to check your hormone levels to observe what is causing the alteration in your times and whether you're starting Per-menopause.

    Poor you!

Around this age, they might well beginning doing strange things. It may be that your body is gearing itself up for Menopause, but no one should risk bad times for too long - there are too a lot things that they may be signalling to you.

I know its what a lot people on these boards say, but the truth is that you need to find a Gynaecologist with whom you feel that you could talk - and she/he requirements to do some blood tests and things to make certainly that its not a real problem brewing.

I am 43 and mine are horrendous at the moment. Heavier, last longer, but for the last few months only between 3-5 days between periods. Was tested for thyroid troubles and other things but they were clear. I guess its old age creeping up on me. Or i have done something really really bad and someone somewhere is paying me back in this way!!!!!!

Hey Sunshine....love your name. I'm 48 and around the age of 44 I did the exact same thing you're doing. It got to the point I went to the doctor. I cosidered I was going to bleed to death. He simply told me it was common and I was in the latter phases of menstruation. I haven't had a period in 2 months now. I hope I'm done! It's wonderful, except for the little spurts of hot flashes I obtain from time to time. That's tolerable though. All the best!

I had the same problem and it turned out that I had fibroids and had hit the menopause. It was cured when I halted taking the pill. The progesterone hormone in the contraceptive pill was causing the heavy bleeding.

I have not gone on to HRT as that would also cause troubles with bleeding. I haven't suddenly started to wrinkly though.

Have a chat to your doctor.

Yes, and I have just discovered I am now anaemic.

Anyone our age who gets bad bleeds should obtain their iron levels checked.

Symptoms include restless legs, leg cramps, palpitations, pins and needles, poor appetite, fatigue, and irritability.

Left to develop into a incessant condition it can be very debilitating.

    Please obtain checked!

Menopause varies from woman to woman...mine got lighter & shorter & I started skipping...I would check in with your female relatives (mom, sister or aunt) & observe what is common for your family.
