I keep getting mouth ulcers, usually on the inside of my cheek. When this happens I also obtain a lump on my jaw aswell and the whole right side of my face feels as though I have been punched.

Is there a reason why I obtain this so often as they are very painful and I am fed up with getting them.?

Does anybody have any prevention ideas. I have a list of treatments but i would rather not obtain them in the first place.

go to your dentist or maybe your GP could give you something if your not keen on the dentist.. it maynot be linked to dental troubles it could be a mouth infection of some kind so perhaps best to observe your GP

I have no idea if it may be the same for you, but i had this a couple of years ago. i had about 15 all round my gums at once. I had been eating many of lemon cheesecake yogurts , you know the ones from Muller( the muller light cheesecake flavour). I halted eating them and never had another ulcer since. Some acidy foods may cause them.

Ask your doctor for chlorhexedine gluconate mouthwash and that will fix it.

Mouth ulcers can come when you're run down, but the lump on your jaw suggests swollen glands which is a sign of infection. So I would agree that a trip to dentist and/or doctor will be a wonderful idea.

Do you have any metallic fillings?

These can also be caused by undiagnosed food allergies or intolerances.

mouth ulcers are soreness caused by bacteria. Usually happens to peolpe once evry 2/3 months, but if its chronic, it's probably caused by a periapical abcess...meaning you have a n abcess beneath a tooth and its causig your ulcers. Treatment is root canal. Go observe your dentist

The the bulk common type of mouth ulcers are called 'apthous' ulcers. They are perhaps viral. (though no virus has been identified.)This means patients should not be given antibiotics as there have no effect. There behaviour is similar to cold sores, in that they are recurrent, come out when we are sprint down and we never seem to develop immunity. Here the similarity ends, because unlike herpetic cold sores there is no treatment. In your case local glands are swelling up as your body tries to deal with the virus.

Each ulcer lasts about 10 days, but you could get further crops erupting, so each episode may last longer than that. There are unfortunately no preventatives.

Ice,ice cream and cold soft items, become the easiest things to eat. Teething gels sometimes help. There are 2 prescription drugs for apthous ulcers, Corlan Pellets and Adcortyl in Orobase paste. Both are steroids, only alleviate the nipping a bit and neither hastens resolution. Which means unfortunately there is little in the technique of treatments that aid much either.
