In the morning my eyes feel fine and I feel totally comfortable all throughout the day with my contacts on from 6 AM to 10 PM. But when I take off my contacts, my eyes are so dry that they are visibly difficult to slide along my eyeball or take off, like they are dried on or something. My eye doctor gave me these contacts call "oasis" that let extra oxygen to pass via and whatnot and are supposed to alleviate dryness, but my eyes are so dry when I take off my contacts that it hurts to blink. I never fall asleep with them on or anything. Is 16 hours too long to wear these contacts?

Your contacts could be expired. Oasys recommends 2 weeks, but with your extended wear you might want to alteration them out. Also throughout the day try eye drops.

My doctor was able to tell that I wore my contacts for too long because my eyes were so dry. I've tried the Oasis too, but they seemed to be TOO thin (which permitted oxygen to pass through) and tore easily. If you're able to take them out before 10pm, try that and just wear your glasses around the house at night. You should also keep some re-wetting drops around so you could moisten your contacts throughout the day. That helps LOADS when you're trying to take them out at night.

6am to 10pm is a bit long to wear contact lens, limit it to 8 hours a day. After you have taken out your contact lens, try hypromellose eye drop, it's very wonderful in healing the moist in your eyes. Also, make certainly that the solution you use is low in preservative (e.g. Opti-free, ask your optician) because high level of preservative can undermine the contact lens and hurt your eyes evern more.

p/s: hypromellose eye drop cannot be used with contact lens on, if you're looking for eye drop convenient with contact lens on, ask your pharmacist or read the packaging.
