I just want my eyes tested accurately and feel comfortable. They just try and sell me $400 frames.
I had such a difficult time trying to obtain them to give me the prescription without buying their frames. Rogues. |

I suggest you obtain more information about the condition of your eyes. Never make a purchase of that nature unless you have a list of information, reasons, medical documentation and a contract of sale right in front of your face. Make certainly that you actually need the frames, and be certainly to read all the fine print. If there's someone that you don't understand, be certainly to find out what it means before signing.

That's the only reason people obtain those kind of jobs, for the money.

$400 frames are not going to make you observe better. You'll look amazing though! Go observe another optometrist if you're not satisfied

Because optometrists are not medical doctors. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors. On the other hand, any optometrist should be concerned with accuracy in testing. If yours isn't, find another one.

An opthamologist is a medical doctor (MD) who specializes in eye health. An optometrist has optical training with very little medical training.
Believe it or not in some states an optometrist, without an MD, can perform eye surgery. Even though they can't prescribe any medications. Oklahoma had a almighty thing about wanting to ban anybody who is not a surgeon from performing surgery. The optometrists were the biggest lobby against it. That was about five years ago. I don't know how it turned out. |

I obtain my eye exams and glasses at Wal-Mart. I got an great examination and my frames cost me $70.00. I have had amazing comments on the appearance of my glasses. I can absolutely afford to spend much more but I don't feel like I have to have designer frames. I have had them in the past and you don't observe any better with $400 frames. I'm sticking with Wal-Mart. Optometrist are minute business owners and that is how they make their wealth by encouraging patients to purchase the more costly frames.

We are hearing the health care is becoming more and more expensive in the United States and here in India the incoming foreigners for several medical treatments and surgeries is galloping as per the government statistics, which they call as "medical tourism" ! The best of optometrics is obtainable so cheap and so also the cost for for the power glasses and the fees for all associated services, in India! You can come to India as tourist to observe and enjoy its beauty coupled with a package for health care as now been offered by the tour operators! My optometrist service charge is just USD 20 and the finest specs cost is just USD 40!
I heard that a dental surgery in the USA cost around USD 4000, which can be finished in the the bulk expensive and great dental polyclinic in just USD 250 only! So, its better to scheme a visit to India for a two weeks tour package with a medical round up for all required services, which may likely to cost less than USD 2000 only! |

First off i think you're referring to the Optician, the Optometrist is the one who is going to prescribe your glasses and the optician is the one who does the sale. As far as the $400 frames, go to some place like wal-mart where some nice frames can be found for under $130.....

This actually is nothing new - treating brings more wealth than a cure. Unfortunately a lot things are not what they used to be anymore...

ophthalmologists sell glasses too! so if you're going to blame your OD for ripping you off, you're going to have to include the MD's in there as well.
uhohspaghettioh is completely misinformed. i was going to use more insulting words than that, but i have chosen not to in a public forum like this. to put it mildly, he/she has Night shift can be totally fine for the body and mind. It is not prizeful for you if you couldnot adjust to it, and still have the urge to sleep at night. no idea what they are talking about. "An optometrist has optical training with very little medical training" thats an intriguing statement, seeing as how about 7/8 of my training was medical. optometrists are DOCTORS, ya know. its a doctorate profession. "Believe it or not in some states an optometrist, without an MD, can perform eye surgery. Even though they can't prescribe any medications." optometrists is EVERY SINGLE STATE can and do Rx medications. ALL 50 STATES. you dont have any idea what you're talking about. "Oklahoma had a almighty thing about wanting to ban anybody who is not a surgeon from performing surgery. The optometrists were the biggest lobby against it. That was about five years ago. I don't know how it turned out." well i'll tell you how it turned out: THE OPTOMETRISTS WON and they still provide surgical procedures. why not? a dentist does some surgery...a podiatrist does some surgery... you have no idea what you're talking about. |
