Yes wearing contacts keep your eyes from watering while chopping onions.

i dont think so... onions have the presence of sulfur and that elements can really cause irritation especialy in the eyes part. so next time when u chop onion used mask hehehhehehe or practice a natural way.

I highly doubt that your contacts are protecting your eyes since the bulk contacts are made to enable air circulation to your eyeballs to prevent infection. I would guess that maybe your eyes aren't extremely sensitive to onions but while you wore glasses, they acted like a trap for the onion gas, keeping it close to your eyes, causing the "crying".

My eyes water when I wear either my contacts or my glasses. Though, with the glasses, they do seem much worse. Someone mentioned that the glasses act like a sort of trap for the onion gas. I would have to agree. I also heard that consuming bread when you chop an onion will prevent crying. Since I am not an avid onion eater, I have not yet tried this, so I don't know if actually works.

Wearing contacts made onions worse for my eyes. The oil gets trapped. Just use a jar with a chopper on it.
